It seems there is no stopping the decline of UK live bingo. Hundreds of bingo halls have closed during the last few years with many blaming the smoking ban or the current economic slowdown. Many though think the rise of online bingo is playing a part in the demise of the live game. The latest bingo hall to close is the landmark Empire Bingo hall in Neath. It is due to close next month after being a popular attraction for decades.
Regulars attending a bingo session at the complex in The Ropewalk were told it is to close, for a variety of reasons with falling attendances being the main factor. Some of those using the club have been attending bingo sessions there for more than three decades.
Only a few weeks ago it was announced that The Orion Bingo hall in Cleveleys, near Blackpool is to close with the loss of 30 jobs. The closure of the Orion swiftly follows the closure of another Blackpool bingo hall in Fleetwood which closed just a few months ago .
